Maharashtra ATS arrests two henchmen of UP-based gangster Vikas Dubey gang from Thane


MUMBAI: The Maharashtra anti-terrorism squad (ATS) early on Saturday arrested two henchmen of the UP-based gangster

gang from Thane. The duo was accused in the killing of eight policemen on the intervening night of July 2 and July 3 in Kanpur when a police team had gone to arrest Dubey. The duo was caught while searching a safe hide-out in Thane district, near Mumbai.

Those arrested by the Maharashtra ATS are Arvind alias Guddan Ramvilas Trivedi, 46, and his driver Sushilkumar alias Sonu Suresh Tiwari, 30. They will be handed over to the UP police.

Last week, an Uttar Pradesh police team went to Bokru village, Kanpur, to arrest Dubey, a known gangster in the northern state, who was facing more than 60 serious criminal cases. Upon learning of the police presence there, Dubey and his gang members allegedly opened fire on the police team and killed eight police personnel, besides injuring several others.
